MODEL OF LIGHT ENVIRONMENT IN GREENHOUSES WITH EMPHASIS ON THE ROLE OF REFLECTION

Author:   K. Kurata
Abstract:
Structural members partly block not only light incident on greenhouse surfaces from outside but also light from inside which is reflected or to be reflected at the internal surfaces of the cover. Many works on light transmissivity analysis of greenhouses so far published included the former effects but neglected the latter effects. This report gives some results of the analysis of the effects of structural members on the reflection. Neglecting these effects leads to the overestimation of reflection and results in inaccurate estimation of transmissivity distribution across a house.
