APPLICATION OF PROPYZAMIDE (KERB) TO LETTUCE VIA TRICKLE IRRIGATION. |

| Abstract:
Trickle irrigation is, in theory, an ideal medium for application of chemicals, including herbicides, to vegetable crops. However, a systematic set of criteria which must be met by the chemical and irrigation system need to be defined to allow this use of trickle irrigation to be consistently effective. Our experiments are initially examining application of Kerb to lettuce crops to test such criteria. Our results have shown that Kerb must be located in the 0–3 cm layer for maximum effectiveness. The best lateral coverage of this stratum in a raised bed was achieved with Bi-WallTM at 3–4 cm. Kerb concentrations in the wetting zone are presented from simulated field studies. | |
