ZYMOGRAMS OF PLANT EXTRACTS USING ISOELECTRIC FOCUSING ON ULTRATHIN LAYERS |

| Abstract:
The polymorphic isozymes of particular plant genotypes can be separated by isoelectric focusing on ultrathin layers of agarose or polyacrylamide. The time needed for analysis is short and the technique enables specific isozymes to be characterised by their isoelectric points. Methods which overcome some of the problems of focusing plant extracts are introduced. These concern enzyme extraction and storage, running conditions, and the avoidance of any interference of enzyme staining caused by the ampholyte chemicals and the pH gradient. | |
