Abstract:
Roses of the cv 'Baccara' were grown under 8 m wide cold plastic tunnels, using four different covers.
The production results of the 2nd year were examined.
The covers were: PRFV 5 years old; PVC Ondex translucid 2 years old; PE+EVA film 2 years old; PVC Ondex crystal 5 years old.
The plants production decreased only when the light transmission of the covers fall to 54.1% at .55 micron, corresponding to about 40.5% of solar radiation.
With the same total light trasmission (translucid and crystal PVC sheet) the increasing of diffused light lowered the maximum air temperature and improved cut roses quality.
The PE+EVA film gave good production and quality but the highest R.H. and water dripping increased the problems of Coniothyrium control.
