ISHS Acta Horticulturae 246: International Symposium on Protected Cultivation of Ornamentals in Mild Winter Climates

INFLUENCE OF NaCl AND NaHCO3 ON THE FOLIAGE AND POLLEN GERMINATION OF ROSE ROOTSTOCK PLANTS GROWN IN MITSCHERLICH POTS

Authors:   J. Weber, R. Reimann-Philipp
Abstract:
An individual response of the pollen from different plants of R. multiflora hybrids upon salt stress, expressed by a different germination ability, was found and gave evidence for a positive correlation between the salt tolerance of the pollen and the donor plant. The symptoms on the foliage of the plants stressed by a salt could precisely be described and classified for NaCl and NaHCO3 contamination.
