ENZYME-LINKED IMMUNOSORBENT ASSAY FOR THE SELECTION AND CERTIFICATION OF PATHOGEN-TESTED PELARGONIUM

Authors:   M.H. Balesdent, J. Albouy, J.P. Narcy, P. Robin, M. Tronchet, M. Lemattre
Abstract:
Among pathogens of Pelargonium, viruses (table 1), Xanthomonas Campestris pv. pelargonii and Verticillium dahliae are limiting factors of this production and appear on the certification scheme.

In mother-plants production conditions, infections by those pathogens are often latent. Therefore, efficient methods are needed to detect very low inoculum levels for selecting healthy plants.

In this perspective, a Double-Antibody-Sandwich (DAS) E.L.I.S.A. system has been adjusted to detect the major pathogens of Pelargonium.
