ISHS Acta Horticulturae 245: Engineering and Economic Aspects of Energy Saving in Protected Cultivation

AN IDEAL CLIMATE LAW IN THE GREENHOUSE

Authors:   J.F. Doualle, G.M. Coulon
Abstract:
A first prototype was built to test the water-screen flow system. A permanent flow of water over the roof and sides of the greenhouse maintains the greenhouse internal temperature at 21°C at no cost other the installations.

A second real size greenhouse is presently being built with three added elements permitting a greater control over the internal climate:

  • a cooling tower,
  • a pool,
  • a net over the greenhouse for luminosity control.

Control over the T°, humidity level and air movement leads to the creation of an ideal climate adjustable to the plant optimum level of comfort, with energy saving up to 90 % as compared with ordinary heating system.
