ISHS Acta Horticulturae 245: Engineering and Economic Aspects of Energy Saving in Protected Cultivation

EUROPEAN RESEARCH COOPERATION FOR DEVELOPMENT OF ENERGY SUPPLY IN PROTECTED CULTIVATION

Author:   K. Kocsis
Abstract:
Seven research networks and twenty one working groups have been established within the framework of the FAO European Cooperative Networks on Rural Energy (CNRE) in order to promote the exchange of technical and scientific information and the practical application of new and renewable sources of energy (NRSE) in rural sectors of Europe. During the years 1983–1988, technical consultations and workshops were organised, reports and bulletins of meetings and state-of-the-art studies and guidelines were prepared and circulated among participating countries, institutions and scientists. On the basis of papers presented and discussed at the CNRE meetings, valuable conclusions can be drawn concerning the present state of R&D programmes carried out in Europe on the more reasonable energy supply of greenhouse industry and to increase the role of new and renewable energy sources in protected cultivation.
