THE CHARASTERISTICS OF LIGHT TRANSMISSIVITY, HEAT CONSUMPTION AND CONDENSATION PROCESSES IN DIFFERENT FILM GREENHOUSES

Abstract:
Two different film greenhouses with various equipment were investigated with regard to heat consumption, light transmissivitiy, humidity and condensation processes. The use of double or multi film covering and thermal screen in a film greenhouse leads to a significant reduction of the heat consumption in comparison to single film cladding. The insulation of the construction elements is very important. The use of different energy saving measures lead to changed charasteristics of the condensation (i.e. type and amount) at the covering material and as a result the light transmissivity is influenced. The differences are relativly small if the greenhouses are cladded with new antidrop materials.

If film greenhouses are equipped with energy saving measures climatic changes are inevitable. There are some possibilities for optimizing the plant growth under these conditions.

Two of them are:

  • The growers have to adapt the cultivation processes to the climatic conditions (i.e. watering, ventilation, etc.),
  • the plants have to adapt their physiological processes.

The investigations continue with respect to the water balance of a plant canopy depending on energy saving measures in plastic film greenhouses.
