Abstract:
Since the origin of mango, somewhere in Indo-malayan region, it has spread to India in the east and to Philippines and Malayasia in the west.
Most of Indian mangoes have differentiated into mono-embryonic types, but in the western limits there are a number of poly-embryonic types.
Hence there was urgent necessity for adopting a suitable method of vegetative propagation in India, because the mono-embryonic types show variation when propagated through seeds.
