ISHS Acta Horticulturae 24: Symposium on Mango and Mango Culture

MANGO PROPAGATION STUDIES AT GOVT. HORTICULTURAL RESEARCH INSTITUTE, SAHARANPUR

Authors:   A. Prasad, A.R. Singh
DOI:   10.17660/ActaHortic.1972.24.15
Abstract:
The mango is usually propagated by inarching which is a cumbersome method. The difficulties encountered and the risk involved in inarching led some scientists and nurserymen to adopt budding of mango on the lines done in roses and apples. Varying degrees of success has been reported by different workers (1, 3, 8, 9, 10, 11, 14).

Studies were, therefore, undertaken to find out the feasibility of budding (patch, forkert and modified forkert methods) and air-layering in the cultivar 'Dashehari' on one and two year old rootstocks.
