Abstract:
Alar increased anthocyanin content, reduced ethylene production, fruit abscission, and the rate of fruit softening in 'Rome' apple fruit.
Neither Promalin, PPG1721, STS, nor the latter two compounds in combination with Promalin duplicated the effects of Alar on fruit ripening.
PPG1721 did not reduce ethylene production in apple fruit, and tended to increase fruit abscission.
STS+Promalin maintained fruit firmness, and reduced ethylene production and fruit abscission relative to the treatments containing PPG1721.
