HORMONAL REGULATION OF PHYSIOLOGICAL DISORDERS AND CELL CONTENT TRANSFER OF PULP IN SATSUMA ORANGE

Authors:   C. Ke, H. Rui-xin, H. Dun-jing
Abstract:
Hormonal refulation of incidence of puffy fruits and granulation in juice sac of two cultivars of Satsuma orange Citrus reticulata Blanco during storage was studied. Rind respiratory rates of both cvs were considerably higher than those of pulp. Thickness of rind continued to increase as a result of transfer of sugar and water from pulp to rind, juice sac granulated, the rind tended to detach from the segments and fruits tended to puff up. GA used together with IZAA (ethychlozate) effectively increases the viability of the rind by rendering the tissue more compact and by delaying senescence, thus markedly decreasing the incidence of puffy fruits and granulation in juice sac of Satsuma orange.
