Abstract:
In apple cultivars Belgolden and Mollie's Delicious, apple chlorotic leaf spot virus (ACLSV) was eliminated by meristem tip culture (0.8 mm), and apple stem grooving virus (ASGV) by in vitro thermotherapy and meristem tip culture.
In apple rootstocks MM 106, MM 111, M 27, and Mac 9, ACLSV was eliminated by 83% through in vitro thermotherapy, which also allowed a proliferation rate (number of axillary shoots/explants number) of 2.2.
Serological tests (ELISA) were made at each stage of the experimental work, in order to estimate the efficiency of the different methods of in vitro virus elimination.
