ISHS Acta Horticulturae 235: XIV International Symposium on Fruit Tree Virus Diseases

THE INFLUENCE OF VIRUS AND MYCOPLASMA DISEASES ON FROST DAMAGE OF APPLE TREES

Author:   B. Zawadzka
Abstract:
The apple proliferation infected trees of frost tolerant cultivars Antonovka and Landsberger Renette were killed or severely injured, whereas the healthy ones survived the low winter temperatures almost undamaged. Similar effect was observed on frost-tolerant McIntosh trees infected with apple mosaic and apple rubbery wood. The frost susceptible healthy and infected trees of Golden Delicious, Starkrimson and Jonared were very severely injured. Only few trees survived the winter.
