APRICOT VARIETAL SENSIBILITY AND GENETIC VARIABILITY TO APRICOT CHLOROTIC LEAF ROLL DISEASE

Authors:   J.M. Audergon, C. Castelain, G. Morvan, M.G. Chastelliere
Abstract:
One hundred and fifty (150) apricot varieties were inoculated by graft transmission (chip budding) with apricot chlorotic leaf roll in order to know their susceptibility and their possible use in a selection and improvement procedure.

In a first step the results show that:

  • There is a great variability between varieties in symptomatology and behaviour.
  • There exist varieties much more susceptible than those usually cultivated in France. Some of them may have interest as indicators.
  • A few cultivars have not shown any symptom after their inoculation in June 1986 and may be at least tolerant to apricot chlorotic leaf roll disease.
