Abstract:
When testing different leafhopper species from MLO-free leafhopper cultures, it was possible to transmit the apple proliferation agent with Fieberiella florii (Stål) from apple to apple ("Golden Delicious") under field conditions.
Test plants developed symptoms 3 years after the beginning of the experiment.
When injecting leafhoppers with MLO-containing insect inocula, F. florii transmitted the pathogen to celery.
The plant showed symptoms after 18 weeks.
Injection of insects with plant inocula did not result in a transmission of the proliferation agent.
