Abstract:
An isolate of narcissus mosaic virus (NaMV) has been found in association with lily symptomless (LSV) in imported Lilium speciosum 'Uchida' bulbs.
The infected lily plants showed severe symptoms such as yellow stripes on the leaves, leaf-deformation and stunting, as well as, in some cases, premature death of the plants.
NaMV from lily was identified on the basis of differential hosts, physical properties, particle morphology, purification and serological test.
It is the first report of NaMV in lily and a second report of natural occurrence of this virus in a species other than narcissus, because it is also known to infect Nerine sp. plants.
