DETECTION OF IRIS MILD MOSAIC VIRUS IN BULBS AND LEAVES OF BULBOUS IRIS BY ELISA

Authors:   A.R. van Schadewijk, A.F.L.M. Derks, M.E.C. Lemmers, Th.C. Hollinger
Abstract:
Iris mild mosaic virus (IMMV) was readily detected in plants of bulbous iris by ELISA. Primary and secondary infections of IMMV were detected in bulbs during dry storage. During the first three months after lifting the bulbs, a gradual increase of both ELISA-absorbance and reliability of tests on stored bulbs was observed. Equal distribution of IMMV, as found in plants and bulbs, facilitates the sampling and testing of irises for certification purposes.
