SURVEY OF WOOD ATTACKING FUNGI IN APPLE ORCHARDS OF SANTA CATARINA STATE, BRAZIL

Authors:   R.R. Melzer, O. Berton
Abstract:
In 118 apple orchards of 14 communities of Santa Catarina, a total of 453 samples of decayed wood was collected and analysed at the Research Station of Caçador/EMPASC, through 1982–1985. The most common species were Botryosphaeria berengeria and Schizophyllum commune. Phomopsis mali was only found in poorly treated or abandoned orchards. The basidiomycete Corticium salmonicolor has been reported for the first time on apple trees in Santa Catarina. Other species identified were Coriolus versicolor, Coriolus zonatus, Sphaeropsis malorum, Stereum hirsutum, Trametes cinnabarina and Trametes seriales.
