Abstract:
Trials on the efficacy of different fungicides as pre-harvest spray against storage rot were conducted by spraying seven different fungicides 3 times at 15-day intervals in the field.
Last spray was given 15 days before harvest.
The harvested fruits were kept in storage for ripening, The data on the number of infected fruits due to Botryodiplodia theobromae were recorded in each treatment.
Results revealed that all the fungicides control fruit rot but within the treatments, bavistin (0.1 per cent) spraying was quite effective showing only 4 and 3 per cent rotten fruits in 1983 and 1984, respectively as against 31.11 and 30.77 per cent in control (unsprayed) in respective years.
This was closely followed by J K Stein (0.1 per cent) and prochloraz (0.2 per cent) showing 7 and 5 per cent, and 4.05 and 7.31 per cent fruit rot respectively.
