Abstract:
Mango psyllid has been recorded as a serious pest of mango in Chhotanagpur region of Bihar.
Among the different cultivars observed for its incidence, Bombai was found to be most susceptible followed by Sukul, Zardalu and Bathua.
The incidence was recorded more on younger budlings whereas older seedlings were worst affected by the pest in Ranchi.
Insecticides, fenthion and methamidophos, both at 0.06 per cent and carbaryl at 0.2 per cent concentration were most effective in suppressing the pest in a two-spray schedule at 10-day interval commencing from 15 August.
The per cent gall formation was of the magnitude of 8.3, 10.0 and 11.6 respectively as against 78.3 per cent galls in untreated control.
