ADVENTITIOUS RHIZOGENESIS CONTROL : NEW DEVELOPMENTS

Author:   Ch. Moncousin
Abstract:
The adventitious rhizogenesis of in vitro cuttings is a critical element in micropropagation. Studies taking place in our laboratories have allowed the replacement of a certain empirism by a better knowledge of the various steps in rooting ontogenesis. Five histocytological stages can be distinguished ; to each of them one can relate peculiar changes of metabolism markers.

The rooting ontogenesis can be divided into two stages : the first stage, a short one, is characterized by a high sensivity for the auxins; the second stage, a long one, can be distinguished by the peculiar change in the specific activity of peroxidasic activity. The knowledge of these various stages permits us to propose a rooting protocole applicable to many woody species.
