Abstract:
- Several organo-phosphates will control D. dipsaci in tulips and narcissus for one year.
These compounds are not contact poisons as such, but they act by preventing eelworms from reproducing possibly by inhibiting feeding.
Eelworms are thus starved to death.
- Combined treatments of HWT followed one month later by a cold water dip in thionazin give improved control.
- It is suggested that bulbs should be grown on a one year cycle to minimise the transmission of soil eelworms from one crop to another.
