ISHS Acta Horticulturae 23: I International Symposium on Flowerbulbs

NEW DEVELOPMENTS IN CONTROLLING BOTRYTIS TULIPAE IN TULIPS

Authors:   A. W. Doornik, M. de Rooy
Abstract:
At present, tecnazene and organic mercury compounds are widely used to control Botrytis tulipae in tulip bulbs and plants. The majority of plants growing from bulbs treated with these disinfectants remains healthy. Spread of the disease in the planted bulb is almost completely inhibited by tecnazene, but insufficiently by organic mercury; this also holds for the infection of the newly formed bulbs.

The results of experiments with some new fungicides and of microscopic observations are presented and discussed.
