Abstract:
Tomato seedlings (cv.
Marmande) were hardened by lowering the growing temperature during the night for 10 days.
After this treatment, hardened and control seedlings were subjected to a period of chilling stress.
Samples of leaves were collected, before and after hardening treatment and chilling stress, for ABA, PA and DPA analysis.
Hardened seedlings showed higher levels of ABA and its metabolites than control plants.
This phenomenon was associated with the absence of cold damage.
