Abstract:
A prototype of solar bioclimatic greenhouse, designed by means of a mathematical model that defined physical and geometrical characteristics was built at the ENEA - C.R.E. Casaccia.
The greenhouse has a structure formed by a metallic frame covered with alveolar polycarbonate.
The cross section is pseudo-triangular shaped with minor sloped roof southwards.
Some series of flat slabs over south and north walls regulate the transmission of incoming solar radiation.
This paper reports data on greenhouse performance regarding microclimate (temperature, humidity, global solar radiation and P.A.R.) and agronomical results obtained growing ornamental (Philodendron spp.) and vegetable (cucumber Sprint F1 variety) plants.
Plant response has shown that the greenhouse has to be modified in order to increase light penetration and temperature to assure better level of confort for plant growing.
