Abstract:
Basic philosophy underlaying hardware and software for a data logger-computer devoted to irrigation trial management is described.
Weather data are collected from electronic sensors, then processed by a desk-top computer and stored into a cassette recorder.
From these data variables for hydrologic balance (Effective Rainfall, ET) can be computed and daily hydrologic balance updated.
As balance reaches a limit value, the irrigation program is automatically executed for all the plots one by one.
Such a system operated quite satisfactorily during two years.
