ISHS Acta Horticulturae 228: IV International Symposium on Water Supply and Irrigation in the Open and under Protected Cultivation

INFLUENCE OF SOME IRRIGATION VARIABLES ON DRIP IRRIGATED TABLE GRAPE,"ITALIA CV", IN SOUTHERN ITALY

Authors:   A. Caliandro, G. Carrieri, P. Rubino, E. Ferrara
Abstract:
The results of two trials to study the influence of the irrigation interval on the seasonal irrigation volume with respect to ETM are reported. The trials were carried out from 1981 to 1984 in Metaponto area (Southern Italy) on a drip irrigated awning type vineyard for table grape, Italia cv.

In the first trial three irrigation intervals (2–4–6 days) were compared by keeping a constant seasonal irrigation volume.

In the second trial three seasonal irrigation volumes were compared (60–80–100% of ETM) by keeping a constant irrigation interval (6 days).

The results obtained show that: it is useful to start the irrigation season at the fruit setting stage and to end it up at the change of colour stage; the seasonal irrigation volumes can vary from 2800 to 3350 m3/ha; the best irrigation regime is the one having an irrigation interval of 6 days and watering volumes equal to the ETM occurred between two successive waterings and that for the awning type vineyard, with weed control, crop coefficients equal to 0.6 for June and to 0.75 for July and August can be suggested.
