Abstract:
The object of the present research was to develop a micropropagation technique for adult trees to be used for the production of planting stock for clonal tests and seed orchard establishment.
In the work, the general principle was adopted of developing first a micropropagation technique for young plants (seedlings from sterile germination), extending then the same to selected adult trees duly rejuvenated.
Nodal cultures were used to avoid any mutation risk.
Going on with previous investigations (Lubrano, 1984), four clones of Eucalyptus x trabutii were examined, obtained from selected 10-year-old individuals, rejuvenated by successive grafting (Franclet, 1981) and placed in greenhouse to root.
For E. viminalis and E. gunnii, nodes from sterile seedlings were cultured.
