Abstract:
In vivo rooting ability of GF 655–2 (Prunus insititia), clonal rootstock for peach and plum, and "Hayward", the most important kiwi (Actinidia chinensis) cultivar, was investigated.

The effect on rooting of 0. 1 ml solution of 25 or 50 ppm of the auxins IAA, IBA or NAA was determined. The number of rooted plants, the number and length of roots and time required for each step was also recorded. Following planting the plugs were placed in a growth room or in greenhouse.

It was found that both species were also able to root without auxins.

Rooted plants in the plugs were easily transferred to soil, showed rapid growth following transplanting, and had a survival rate near 100%.
