Abstract:
The plant habit, growth and development of 36 dwarf rose cultivars propagated in vitro and by cuttings were compared.
Ex vitro plants flowered earlier, had shorter shoots with fewer and shorter internodes, and more and longer laterals than plants from cuttings.
Ex vitro plants seem promising but are too expensive at the moment.
Therefore, breeding genotypes of dwarf roses with lower apical dominance, improved dwarfness and better clustering habit is imperative.
