INFLUENCE OF ROOTING HORMONES ON THE PROPAGATION OF SEVERAL "NEW" ORNAMENTALS |

| Abstract:
Uniform cuttings of four ornamental genera that were hitherto unknown or rarely cultivated in Europe and resp. in the Fed. Rep. Germany were treated with various growth-regulating substances in different concentrations and different application forms in order to promote root formation. Generally, it was shown that hormone concentrations just below the toxic level produced the best rooting results. The best rooting rates for each of the genera tested were achieved at: Lechenaultia biloba: 0.5 – 1% IBA in powder form; Arctotis Hybrids: 2 – 4% IBA in powder form; Pimelea ferruginea and P. ferruginea 'Bonne Petite': 4 – 8% IBA or 0.2% NAA in powder form. In the case of Correa reflexa Form 3 and Correa 'Mannii', best results were obtained by submerging the cuttings for one hour in a 50 ppm NAA solution or 50–100 ppm IBA solution. | |
