Abstract:
The following factors were shown to contribute to variability in morphogenic response when explants were cultured in vitro: explant length, axillary bud number, excision of the apex of the explant and the position of explants on the plant canopy prior to excision and in vitro culture.
The generation of large quantities of propagules was aided by 1) introduction of explants to in vitro culture at a time of year when optimal shoot proliferation takes place, and 2) cytokinin spray treatment of stock plants.
