Abstract:
In order to improve the efficiency of greenery systems in Bulgaria, it is expedient to introduce new decorative hardy-shrub species and forms as well as extend the usage of familiar ones.
Most of these species propagate mainly in a vegetative way.
The aim of the present paper is to investigate the anatomical status of one-year-old shoots and its influence on the annual regeneration capacity of cuttings prepared from such shoots of laurel (Laurocerasus officinalis) Roem.
It is a decorative quick-growing evergreen frutescent species, sensitive to water content in soil.
In Bulgaria this species successfully grown along the Black Sea coast but it can also be grown in many other regions.
The species is a native of western Caucasus, Asia Minor and the Balkan peninsula.
