Abstract:
The problems of aseptical handling of in vitro grown dihaploid and tetraploid Solanum tuberosum plant material used for subsequent protoplast isolation, fusion and regeneration are demonstrated.
Noteworthy observations concerning late bacterial infection during protoplast regeneration are presented.
Test systems for the visualisation of latent bacterial infection are described and the possibility of developing a new bacterial test system based on enzymatically released bacteria from latently infected plant material is discussed.
