MORPHOLOGICAL RECORDS ON INFLORESCENCES IN APPLE AND PEAR CULTIVARS

Author:   R. Silbereisen
Abstract:
With the aim to improve the possibility for identification of cultivars some characteristics of inflorescences and some other distinct organs were studied. The number of primary leaves and number, form and position of the petals seems to be helpful for identification of cultivars. The lenght and position of styles are potentially useful for this purpose as well. The number of flowers in inflorescences is less helpful mostly because of yearly variation. To improve methods of identification of apple and pear cultivar it is essential to further study the differences and variation of inflorescences.
