| Abstract:
Hybrids between nectarine and varieties of Persica vulgaris Mill. ssp. ferganensis Riab. et Kost., P. vulgaris Mill. and its varieties P. vulgaris var. atropurpurea /Schneid./ Holub and P. vulgaris var, compressa Loudon show a community of morphological and biological traits. Nectarine varieties are crossed between each other readily, as well as with the wild species P. davidiana Carr., P. mira /Koehne/ Kov. et Kost., forming fertile, high-yielding progeny F1. Some inbred interspecific seedlings I1 had female sterility. Their pollen proved to be fertile, having good fertilizing ability. By means of crossing P. davidiana and P. vulgaris ssp. ferganensis with nectarine varieties and subsequently inbreeding, new forms have been obtained which are good donors of resistance to mildew. In the inbred progeny I1 of the introduced nectarine cv. 'Gover', forms resistant to leaf curl have been selected. As a result of hybridization for many centuries, nectarine varieties are likely far, philogenetically, from the wild species P. davidiana, P. mira, further than P. vulgaris ssp. ferganensis, P. vulgaris and its varieties P. vulgaris var. atropurpurea and P. vulgaris var. compressa. | |
