LEVEL OF INPUTS AND EFFICIENCY OF DIRECT LABOUR WITH VARIOUS METHODS OF HARVESTING OF BLACK-CURRANTS ON INDIVIDUAL FAMILY FARMS IN POLAND

Authors:   J. FELSKI, A. BRZEZINSKA
Abstract:
Poland is the main producer of currants in the world. Nearly 1/3 of 1985's world production of black and coloured currants (180 000 tons) came from Poland. High intensity of labour and as a consequence, high production costs are characteristic of the production of currants. Mechanization of harvesting solves the problem of labour intensity and develops the economic effectiveness of production. At present in Poland there are several methods of harvesting: hand-picking, manual shakers, an auto-mobile one-row harvester and a half-row harvester.
