Author:   W. CIECHOMSKI
Abstract:
Against the background of social economic changes the horticultural business development is shown. Poland has changed from an agricultural country to an industrial-agricultural country. The doubled number of inhabitants and demographic changes as the result of which the number of inhabitants in towns has grown three times are the cause of development of a huge home market. This market formed by the growth and changes in demand for vegetables, fruit and flower was stimulated for the development horticultural production.

In the last years the level of horticultural production exceeds gradually the internal consumption, and increases the role of export of horticulture products.
