YIELD ANALYSIS OF FRENCH BEANS

Author:   E. Nemeskéri
Abstract:
The climatic conditions have often negative effects on qualities of pods in French beans and their ability for processing in Hungary. We have investigated the suitability of twelve French beans for processing. We concentrated on the following properties: pods classification, pods contents /such as dry material, fiber, sugar protein contents/, reactions to changes of harvesting time and irrigation. The trials went on from 1984 to 1986. According to results Forum, Rovet varieties, suitable for canning showed tolerance, enduring lack of water during critical stages of development. Buvet "pencil" podded bean, suitable for freezing had the same reactions and good qualities of pods.
