EFFECT OF INCREASING NITROGEN DOSES ON YIELD AND QUALITY OF SPINACH

Authors:   V. Markovic, B. Lazic, M. Djurovka
Abstract:
In two years on the experimental field of the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops, the Faculty of Agriculture in Novi Sad/Yugoslavia/, on the chernozem soil, the effect of increasing doses of nitrogen/from 0 to 200 kg/ha/ on yield and quality of spinach varieties: Dark Green Bloomsdale and Matador were studied. We also determined the nitrate and nitrite content. Spinach yield increased with increasing nitrogen doses of 150 kg/ha. The nitrate and nitrate content did not significantly change when nitrogen doses were increased to 200 kg/ha.
