ISHS Acta Horticulturae 220: I International Symposium on Vegetables for Processing

THE POTENTIAL FOR SEED, SOWING AND SEEDBED PREPARATION TREATMENTS TO IMPROVE THE PRODUCTION OF UNIFORMLY-SIZED CARROT ROOTS FOR PROCESSING

Author:   W.E. Finch-Savage
Abstract:
Crop establishment has a major influence on total yield, root size and the uniformity of carrot root size at harvest and therefore on the yield of size-graded carrots for processing. Recent work at the Institute of Horticultural Research, Wellesbourne, on seedling establishment in the field is discussed in relation to the production of carrot crops for processing.
