Abstract:
From 18 to 21 March 1969 a symposium was arranged at Littlehampton, England, by the Working Group "Electricity in Horticulture" of the Commission for Horticultural Engineering, in collaboration with the Commission on Protected Cultivation and the Section for Vegetables, to discuss applications of electricity and artificial light in horticulture.
It was attended by 60 representatives from 14 countries and the texts of most of the 25 papers which were read are presented in the present number of Acta Horticulturae.
This was the first meeting to be organised by this Working Group although a meeting on the same topic was held in Ghent in 1960 prior to the formation of Working Groups.
I would like to take this opportunity of thanking all who prepared papers, many of which were duplicated in advance for distribution to the members, and to all who attended the meeting.
A.E. Canham
Chairman of the Working Group
