| Abstract:
Measurement of carrot fly /Psila rosae F./ populations is a useful arrangement in relation to pesticide treatments. Adult flies are monitored by means of yellow sticky traps, but a correct interpretation of the flight curve needs additional information. Examples are demonstrated in this paper, showing how egg-laying may vary due to time of the season and how the design of the traps have influence on the catches as well. The health status of the adult fly population should be taken into consideration, since fungal pathogens develop epidemics in the fly populations. Aspects of present and future control measures of carrot flies are discussed. | |
