Abstract:
Four tomato accessions which were acquired from the Asian Vegetable Research and Development Center (AVRDC) Shanhua, Taiwan, were evaluated at Taita Farmers Training Center, Kenya.
The lines were, evaluated against the traditional common cultivar at this area. 'Moneymaker' to determine their yield potential.
No trials have been carried out yet at this locality to determine the different cultivar yields of this crop.
The accessions CL 1915–0–2–1 and BL 191 yielded 17.3.3 and 163 t ha-1, respectively, while 'Moneymaker' yielded 160.5 t ha-1. Accessions CL 1915–043–1 and CL 1915–0–6–9 yielded 154.4 and 101.1 t ha-1 respectively.
There were significant yield differences between the cultivars tested.
