Abstract:
The pattern of seedling emergence of 'Carrizo citrange', 'Cleopatra mandarin', 'Sour orange', and 'Swingle citrumelo' were studied in an indoor citrus nursery.
Seedlings from seeds placed horizontally on the mix emerged earlier and the emergence rate was faster than seedlings from seeds placed with the micropylar-end up or down.
Seedlings from the seeds which were placed horizontally were taller and had higher dry weights than those from the other orientations although the differences were not significant statistically.
These differences were most pronounced between the horizontal and the micropylar-end down positions.
Seed orientation did not affect the total percent seedling emergence and the emergence spread.
