ISHS Acta Horticulturae 212: Symposium on In Vitro Problems Related to Mass Propagation of Horticultural Plants

IN VITRO PROPAGATION OF CANARY ISLAND BANANA (MUSA ACUMINATA COLLA AAA VAR. DWARF CAVENDISH). STUDIES OF FACTORS AFFECTING CULTURE OBTENTION, PRESERVATION AND CONFORMITY OF THE PLANTS

Authors:   A. García Rodríguez, J.R. Lorenzo Martín, M.J. Rodríguez Enríquez
Abstract:
Many factors influence on the "in vitro" banana organogenesis - process. Some of them, NH+4concentration, carbohydrate source and BA concentration affect notably the multiplication rate. The maintenance of "in vitro" banana stock during a long period of time is possible if we take in consideration the control that these factors have on the emission of lateral shoots. The conformity of the "vitro-plants" (obtained from a 5 years old stock) growing in the fields, corroborate that this method is reliable.
