ISHS Acta Horticulturae 212: Symposium on In Vitro Problems Related to Mass Propagation of Horticultural Plants

CITRUS MICROPROPAGATION

Authors:   S. Bouzid, I. Belcoura
Abstract:
In vitro culture of the adult stem micro cuttings of some Citrus species (Sour and sweet orange and Troyer Citrange) showed that the regeneration and neoformation of buds from these explants could be controlled by the action of different growth hormones added in the culture medium. The buds which were formed from these cultures were easily rooted and gave a possibility of rapid clonal multiplication of the mother plant.

Callus tissue of these species of Citrus have been also obtained from culturing in vitro on definite medium, of various parts of adult tree (stems leaves, roots and sliced fruit).

The callus presented a polymorphism, which is maintained through continuous subculturing.
