ISHS Acta Horticulturae 212: Symposium on In Vitro Problems Related to Mass Propagation of Horticultural Plants

IN VITRO CULTURE OF POGOSTEMON CABLIN BENTH

Authors:   B.T. Posa, N.M. Calinawan, D.L. Sibal, S.C. Halos
Abstract:
Micropropagation by tissue culture method was tried for Pogostemon cablin Benth. Surface-sterilized nodal segments from mature plants were cultured asceptically in half-strength Murashige and Skoog medium. Three-fold shoot and root multiplication were induced in de Fossard medium at the first sub-culture and 17-fold in the second sub-culture. Survival of plantlets was the same in sterilized and unsterilized sand but higher when plantlets were in groups (4–6 plantlets) than when planted singly.
